Ok this may be a dumb question but a mechanic(old school streetracer ) once told me i could use type f in place of dextron to firm the shifts a little as it doesnt have the slippery additve for smooth clutch engagment, he said thats what BM trick shift fluid was when it first came out. It requires, according to the manual, Type F fluid for the PS unit, while at the same time, my manual tranny calls for Mercon. GM drag racers have known this trick for decades and have used the Ford Type F fluid to improve shift quality and that’s still a good plan today. Ford’s Type F is still relatively easy to find although not always stocked on shelves at the local auto parts store. Years ago Type F was recommended to firm up the shifts in a TQ.
For ( Type F ), smoothed their shifts by using a different clutch plate material than Chrys. Go with type f its way better fluid in my opinion. Type F lacks some of they key additives that reduce slipping in newer transmissions.
