Evans npg coolant problems

Re: Dumping evans coolant to go back to a conventional setup. Plain water with Water Wetter (or a similar surfactant like purple ice or stay cool) keeps temps the lowest. The non-aqueous propylene glycol (NPG) boils at 370oF, greatly reducing vaporization and eliminating vapor problems. About Waterless Coolant Traditional engine coolant is water, but water causes engine corrosion and overheating. I did the conversions and it was crucial that ALL the water was removed from the system.

They gave us a special refractometer to test the coolant to make sure there was no water in the new coolant after the conversion. Some are 1 propylene glycol , and others are a mix of propylene glycol and ethylene glycol. The premise of their marketing is that, by excluding water from coolant , certain benefits can be achieved.

If you have any problems with the registration process. You get the same freeze protection and boil over protection in both a pressurized and a non-pressurized cooling system. EVANS NPG Coolant is non-toxic to humans and animals. It burned more fuel resulting in less build-up on the muffler. There was no boiling or steaming.

My 1has a history of cooling system problems : replaced radiator, heater core, pump, etc. The head on the 1is also sensitive to overheating. So yes it does work better than most brands. Maybe if you are having boil over problems.

I read the PDF file on it and it seems to be awesome stuff. Overall, it cools better, is waterless, corrodes less, is a lifetime coolant , and it is safe on the environment and animals. It contains no silicates or phosphates, and requires no supplemental coolant additives. With a boiling point above 375°F, you can expect to eliminate the chance of overheating your motor.

Evans is now NHRA track approved! It remains a liquid under conditions where water would boil. Two warnings- the expansion rate of NPG -R is much higher than that of water, so your overflow can may need to be resized. Also, it is flammable, so be careful with it.

The only thing to look out for is not to leave it in the system too long. Hayneedle while the highest price is $79. New products prices vary between $40. The difference between the two situations is like that of opening a beer versus opening one that is warm and shaken.

Automakers have increased radiator and fan sizes to keep up with the demand. The water in the mix conducts heat. Found a guy who sells it in San Dimas. ARCTIC COOLANT (Case of 4) $ 340.

EVANS HEAVY DUTY COOLANT (Case of 4) $ 275. I flushed it with distilled water twice, and added a coolant filter. High Performance Engine Cooling and Power Production. Since the system runs at psi over atmospheric, compared to the 15psi over atmospheric that conventional pressurized. Water is a great coolant, there’s no doubting that, but it has it’s own set of problems that comes with using water as a coolant.

At higher temps, water boils and pressurizes your cooling system, and as the water turns into vapor, there are spots where the engine’s surface is not getting. Evan Cooling Systems (ECS) has advanced cooling components for all kinds of vehicles, including diesel trucks, race engines and street cars. The key component is its NPG coolant.

NPG , which stands for non-aqueous propylene glycol,. No overheating problems and the cooling system only builds a fraction of the normal pressure. The cooling system is now essentially maintenance free other than checking the level every couple months.

Water wetter can be used to get the smae effect as 1 water, but without the corrosion problems associated with that. Water will cool better, but can corrode iron and aluminum. For leak problems, Bars Leak Tablets or AlumiSeal are the only approved stop leak product for “Waterless” Coolants. It is possible for air to be drawn in to the pump through the weep hole and passed the bearing shaft seal.

You can squeeze the radiator hoses with the cap on and full temp. Has to help reduce failure associated with pressure on those components. You do not need pressure to aid in flow. It has been used for years in racing engines with aluminum parts. It is a superior coolant and it inhibits electrolysis and corrosion when steel and aluminum both contact the coolant.

I have had zero problems with it. Pros: 1) removes more heat from the engine 2) eliminates hot spots in the heads 3) very high boiling point 4) zero pressure radiator cap 5) 1 coolant (no water) Cons: A). Eliminate cooling failures caused by water. The near 0-psi system pressure will keep the coolant from leaking out of the system! That is flawed because the water pump generates pressure to circulate the coolant through the engine and at high RPMs and higher the fluid viscosity the greater the circulating pressures will be on the outlet side of the pump, radiator and hoses.

Sonic6 Your post was about the best coolant in aluminum radiators. Dexcool is fine in aluminum rads, with alum or cast iron heads. However, if you still have an original heater coil, brass and soldered joints do not use Dexcool. It does not like solder and will weaken your joints and cause leaks.
