There are different waxes, lacquers, and antiquing finish that you can choose from to get the desired look for your project. Paint goes on smooth an of course, no brush strokes to be seen! I used the paint and wax sent in my blogger box, and also bought another color for the mirror ~ a beautiful teal, aptly named Vintage Affliction ~ along with other supplies for the project.

The next step was to add Frog Tape Chevron Shape Tape to the fabric. I picked it up for a desk because I thought it would be (1) easier to spray the desk and (2) the description made me think it would “stick” better than paint on such a high traffic item. One step paint enables you to paint without stripping, sanding or priming. Water-based paint , zero VOC, ballet White color with flat and chalky finish. Black and Grey are often used. Here Atelier Grey was used since it is the same color used on the panel front. Allowed paint to dry overnight.
Mirror adhesive applied to panels and mirror placed onto adhesive. Another trick for crisp paint lines. One step does not necessarily mean one coat, however that was the case with the black paint.
I did notice that the black required only one coat whereas the Atelier required two and I wiped some of the paint off so I could see the original stain peeking through. No sanding, stripping or priming needed. But you would like to learn more before you work on your own project.
