Code p1870

The PCM monitors and compares engine speed to vehicle speed after the converter clutch has been commanded ON in either high gear or Overdrive. Leave a comment below or tell us if the information above help you fix the code.

code p1870

This error code is a manufacturer-specific trouble code , meaning it does not apply to all vehicles makes. I purchased this car for $5from a neighbor. I know what your thinking. I was told the light was always on. My mechnaic told me that something is wrong with the transmission based on the code , but needed to bring my car to a tranny expert (so he said) to have it diagnosed.

This can be caused by wear of the bore for the TCC isolator and regulator valves in the valve body. If your SES (service engine soon) light is on, use a diagnostic tool to scan the code to verify this is the trouble code you are encountering. Cause: Engine speed over 5rpm for seconds, Fuel Shutoff inactive, throttle angle from 8. The powertrain control module (PCM) monitors the difference between engine speed and transmission output speed. In Ddrive range with the TCC engage the engine speed should closely match the transmission output speed. This is a non-specific transmission component slippage.

This means, somewhere between the input and output speed sensor, the revolution count has changed.

I took it back when the light first came on and the transmission shop reworked the valve body, it did not fix the code , they ordered another valve body just had it put in today. Same problems and symptoms, do yourself a favor and get a replacement. There is a valve that wears the body and will start to stick.

It will be most noticeable during the 1-upshift as the computer will have to increase the pressure to work the sticking valve. Vengine With 110miles. Could be several things such as faulty shift solenoi TCC solenoi internal tranny failure, engine misfire etc.

Best bet would be having a transmission specialist shop diagnose it. Cause The condition may be due to wear in the control valve body. The official description is “transmission component slipping,” indicating problems with TCC performance on 4L60-E , 4L80-E , 4L30-E and 4T60-E transmissions.

I would suggest a factory service manual. Transmission Component Slipping). So, I had all the fluids and filters changed. Drained the pan and replaced the filter and had the system pumped out. In stock form, the steel spool valve rides in the Aluminum bore in the valve body.

After a few years of cycling, the bore wears (obviously, being the softer of the two metals). GM has a load of problems with this. Low end to fix is $3if the torque converter is not blue or overheated and the transmission fluid is not burned and if the pan does not have any metal fragments or clutch material in it. L vmotor Automatic Drives great Tires are near new condition. L wheel drive VIN: 1GNCT18W0Y Had.

It would happen at all gears, just before a gear change. The code definition is assigned by manufacturers according to their vehicle basic system differences, implementation differences, or diagnostic strategy differences. The PCM is comparing input and output rpm and detecting a difference that could mean the TCC is not locking up.

Test driving this car was a experience because. Fill Your Cart With Color today! Again, with that many miles, probably just worn out. Refer to the Parts Information table below. I cleared the code several times and it keeps coming back.

The problem is supposedly that GM made a crappy part, and it gets gummed up and throws the code. This is correct, the kit will fix the code , but you can also buy a $valve that will fix it from 4l60-e. The fault is most likely to be caused by the systems that the sensor is monitoring, but might even be caused by the wiring to the sensor itself.

The check engine light of course is on. I replaced the OSensor before the CAT, and erased the codes. Pontiac Check Engine Light Codes. Can anyone give me further information on the code and what more diagnosis i can do before having to take it in and have the transmission worked on.

It has about 100k miles on it and a rebuilt engine at 75k. This just might free valves and governors that are possible stuck in valve bodies. Be sure to get computer trouble code (s), see owners manual for technique to acquire malfunction codes. This will be a great assistance in diagnosing possible problems. Conditions for Running the DTC.

The system voltage is 8-volts. He is living 3miles away from me. Includes installation instructions. This valve will not set code on the vehicles with CAN bus.

It allows the valve to unlock the converter if the PWM drops to a very low duty cycle, while still sealing the worn valve bore. PCM detects a slip in the torque converter. It then sets the code , commands high line pressure to prevent internal damage to the transmission. The vehicle service manual should be consulted for more information on possible causes of the fault, along with required testing.

National Electrical Safety Code Registration Authority Color Books Standards Related Products. Van was clunking on accelerated left turn but topped up tranny fluid and it quit. Cause: can be the snout of the TCC PWM solenoid is cracke look on the side of solenoid where the screens are.
